2019 Undergraduate Capstone Project Presentations
Our senior students presented their undergraduate capstone projects. In the event where 7 projects were presented, the projects conducted in collaboration with companies such as Turkish Airlines (THY), ASELSAN, STRYKER, Kayseri Transportation Inc., Orta Anadolu, and KEPSAŞ received great acclaim.
Three of the projects were supported by TÜBİTAK. Additionally, three of our projects reached the semi-finals of the nationwide Student Project Competition organized by the Operational Research / Industrial Engineering Congress. One of these projects advanced to the finals. The same project also won first place in the regional round of TÜBİTAK’s Student Research Project Competition.
Navigating the Career Path – Finance Sector
Bahadır Alıcı, Industrial Engineer and Finance Manager at STRYKER—a company listed among the Forbes Global 500—held a career talk with our students, sharing insights about career planning and the role of industrial engineering in the finance sector.

Internship Experience Sharing
Our 3rd and 4th year students presented the projects they worked on during their internships and shared their experiences with their peers. The aim of this annual event is to help students who have not yet completed an internship project to focus on productive projects in the future, based on the shared experiences.

Students Shared Their Internship Experiences
The internship mobility that begins in the first year offers our students the opportunity to put the technical knowledge they gain in class into practice.
In this event, students who participated in internship programs in previous years shared their experiences with first-year students who will be doing an internship for the first time this year. During the event, students who had internships either in Turkey or abroad discussed their experiences before, during, and after the internship.
Throughout the enjoyable presentations, first-year students gained valuable insights into the internship process.

General Manager of TEMSA Spare Parts Was Our Guest
As part of the Introduction to Industrial Engineering course, Şafak Pesen Üstün, General Manager of TEMSA Spare Parts, was our guest.
Our students had the opportunity to broaden their perspectives and ask questions about their future careers during this inspiring session, where valuable industry professionals are invited to share their experiences.

2nd Entrepreneurship Competition at AGÜ
Students competed with their business idea projects in the Entrepreneurship Competition organized at Abdullah Gül University (AGÜ).
As a result of the evaluations, the “Suit Up” project by our second-year Industrial Engineering students won first place, while another second-year team’s project, “Knowgredients,” secured second place.
In addition to receiving cash prizes, the winning teams earned further support from KOSGEB under the Business Plan Award category. If the business ideas are implemented within 24 months, the first-place team will receive 15,000 TL, the second-place team 10,000 TL, and the third-place team 5,000 TL in funding.
The competition concluded with the presentation of KOSGEB Entrepreneurship Training Certificates to students enrolled in the “Entrepreneurship” course.
Technical Visit to the 2nd Air Supply and Maintenance Center Command
As first-year Industrial Engineering students, we organized a technical visit this week to the 2nd Air Supply and Maintenance Center Command. Established in 1926, this facility is responsible for producing spare parts for aircraft in the inventory of the Turkish Air Force.
We learned that the center is capable of producing up to 17,000 different parts. During the visit, we had the unique opportunity to observe the technological evolution of machinery from past to present all in one place. As AGÜ Industrial Engineering students, we explored various departments including lathe, milling, design, and painting.
We extend our sincere thanks to the staff of the 2nd Air Supply and Maintenance Center for their hospitality.
Technical Visit to STRYKER
As part of the "Exploring Profession" course, a technical visit was organized for first-year students to STRYKER, a global company listed on the Fortune 500 and a leading producer of hospital equipment. STRYKER acquired Muka Metal A.Ş. in 2015, and during the visit, students had the chance to learn more about the company’s operations and production processes.
Technical Visit to Boyteks
As part of the “Exploring Profession” course, first-year Industrial Engineering students visited Boyteks, the 2015 Export Champion of Kayseri. With its advanced production processes, product control systems, and storage solutions, Boyteks served as a source of inspiration for our students.
İsmail Doğan – Career Talk
İsmail Doğan, Senior Manager of ERP Services at EMEIA—one of the world’s leading consulting firms—met with our university students for a career talk. He shared insights on how Industrial Engineering students should shape their mindsets and highlighted the key skills and competencies they need to acquire while planning their academic and professional paths.
Entrepreneurship Seminar at AGU
On December 16, 2016, as part of the "Entrepreneurship Seminars," Mehmet Onarcan, founder of Turkey's first mentor and expert network Mentors Network Turkey (MNT), Angel Investor, and Mentor, was hosted at AGU.
İlkay Gültaş – Interview
On April 7, 2016, Dr. İlkay GÜLTAŞ, Industrial Engineer and Managing Partner of 360 Management Consulting Group, held a discussion with our first-year students on the topics of Strategic Management and Executive Consulting.
Technical Visit to KAYSERİ ULAŞIM A.Ş.
On March 24, 2016, our first-year Industrial Engineering students organized a technical visit to KAYSERİ ULAŞIM A.Ş. During the visit, they gathered information about the Bike Sharing system, one of the examples of the sharing economy in Kayseri, which they would work on as a project topic throughout the semester, as well as the problems encountered in its implementation.
Technical Visit to BOYTEKS
On March 17, 2016, our first-year Industrial Engineering students organized a technical visit to BOYTEKS, where they gained preliminary knowledge about textile and weaving industry practices and modern warehouse management applications. Additionally, they had the opportunity to directly observe the areas of work and applications of Industrial Engineers in the sector.
BRN Yatak – Process Analysis Project
As part of the 'Business Process Analytics' course, second-year Industrial Engineering students carry out a Process Analysis Project every week at BRN Yatak, one of Turkey's innovative startups.
Internship Presentations
The presentations of the internships completed by our second-year students during the summer term of 2015, within the scope of the "Introduction to Business Life Program," were held. On February 19, 2016, the engineering and management teams from Kilim Mobilya A.Ş., and on March 4, 2016, from YATAŞ, attended the presentations. Our students shared the experiences they gained during their internships and the solution suggestions they developed for the problems they observed.
STRYKER Technical Visit
On February 25, 2015, we organized a technical visit to STRYKER, a leading company in the medical equipment industry that acquired MUKA Metal A.Ş. in Kayseri. STRYKER is ranked among the Fortune Global 500 companies within the medical sector. According to a survey conducted among professionals, STRYKER is the 3rd most desired company to work for in the medical industry. During the visit to STRYKER’s Kayseri campus, our first-year students had the opportunity to witness the company’s industrial engineering applications firsthand and gain insights into the corporate organization of the company.
Entrepreneurship Projects Competition at AGU
In the Fall Semester of the 2015-2016 Academic Year, the Abdullah Gül University (AGU) Industrial Engineering Department organized an Entrepreneurship Projects Competition as part of the course "Development of Entrepreneurial Skills." The competition, where entrepreneurship projects developed by second-year students from the Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering departments were showcased, also marked the launch of the Startup Kayseri (Will You Be My Partner) Program. The event was held at the Sümer Campus Rectorate Conference Hall.
In the competition, where seven teams presented their projects, the jury, consisting of the President and Vice President of the Kayseri Chamber of Commerce, the Director of KOSGEB, and the Presidents and members of the TOBB Kayseri Women Entrepreneurs and Young Entrepreneurs Boards, evaluated the projects. The project titled “O iş Bende” won first place, followed by “Fash” in second place, and “Ev Restoranı” in third place. With the support of the Kayseri Chamber of Commerce, the winning team received 1,000 TL, the second-place team 750 TL, and the third-place team 500 TL as cash prizes. After the awards were presented, Merve Sarıoğlu, the President of the TOBB Kayseri Women Entrepreneurs Board, and Osman Güldüoğlu, the President of the Young Entrepreneurs Board and founders of the Startup Kayseri program, expressed that they found the projects very successful and encouraged the students to apply to the Startup Kayseri program.
Following the awards ceremony, KOSGEB Provincial Director Ahmet Özbekler presented the students with KOSGEB Entrepreneurship Training Certificates. Özbekler stated that the projects exceeded their expectations, expressed the potential for these projects to receive support as innovative entrepreneurship projects from KOSGEB, and assured that they were ready to provide any assistance needed. He also emphasized that the applied entrepreneurship training model could be the first of its kind in Turkey and congratulated those involved.
Traditional Second Industrial Engineering Dinner
On December 15, 2015, we organized the annual Traditional Industrial Engineering Welcome Dinner, attended by our department’s students and faculty members, as well as our University Rector, Industrial Engineer Prof. Dr. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu.
Talk – İsmail Doğan
On November 23, 2016, we hosted İsmail Doğan, the Senior Manager of ERP Services at PwC, one of the leading consulting companies in the world. Mr. Doğan, who is also an Industrial Engineer, shared insights with our university students on how Industrial Engineers should develop their mindsets and the skills and abilities they need to acquire while shaping both their education and career paths.
Talk – Bora Usal
On November 10, 2015, we hosted Mr. Bora Usal, Brand Development Manager for North Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey at Unilever, at our university. Mr. Usal shared his experiences gained over the years working in various countries and markets within Unilever, which operates in nearly 200 countries, with the students of our department.
October 10, 2015 – ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROJECTS – JURY PRESENTATIONS
On October 27, 2015, second-year Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering students made their first presentations of the Entrepreneurship projects they had prepared within the scope of the IE201 course to the Project Evaluation Jury, consisting of members from the TOBB Kayseri Women Entrepreneurs and Young Entrepreneurs Committees.
June 7, 2015 – PREPARATION FOR THE PREFERENCE PERIOD
On June 17, 2015, our Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim AKGÜN, Education Consultant and Author Süleyman BELEDİOĞLU, also known as Bonus Hoca, and Corporate Communication and Promotion Expert İsmail YOLCU came together to exchange ideas before the preference period.
May 21, 2015 – TECHNICAL VISIT TO MERKEZ ÇELİK A.Ş.
On May 21, 2015, a technical visit was organized to Merkez Çelik A.Ş. Our students will gain experience by working as trainee engineers at this company during this summer.
May 14, 2015 – TECHNICAL VISIT TO AIR MAINTENANCE CENTER COMMAND STORAGE
On May 14, 2015, a technical visit was organized to the warehouses of the Kayseri Air Maintenance Center Command. During the visit, our students gained experience on the methods used in managing the storage of hundreds of thousands of different products and materials.
April 16-22, 2015 – TECHNICAL VISIT TO AIR MAINTENANCE CENTER COMMAND WORKSHOPS
On April 16 and 22, 2015, two technical visits were organized to the military vehicle, ammunition, and material workshops of the Kayseri Air Maintenance Center Command. During the visits, students had the opportunity to learn about the processes involved in maintaining and repairing military equipment and materials.
April 15, 2015 – SEMINAR PROGRAM
On April 15, 2015, we hosted Ayten Paşayiğit, the managing partner of SABRİ PAŞAYİĞİT DESIGN OFFICE, at our university. Ayten Hanım shared her work experience as an Industrial Engineer at large-scale companies like UNILEVER and BORUSAN with our students. Her insights were invaluable in helping students understand the real-world applications of industrial engineering in the corporate world.
March 19, 2015 – SEMINAR PROGRAM
On March 19, 2015, Kemal Yılmaz, an Industrial Engineer and the Business Development Manager at Anadolu JET A.Ş., held a seminar for our department's students. He shared insights on the applications of Industrial Engineering in the aviation industry and discussed various career opportunities in the sector. His experience provided valuable guidance for students interested in pursuing careers in this field.
March 12, 2015 – TECHNICAL VISIT TO BRN YATAK A.Ş.
On March 12, 2015, a technical visit was organized to BRN Yatak Baza ve Ev Tekstili İnş. Tic. A.Ş., one of the well-established companies in Kayseri. During the visit, students had the opportunity to gain insights into the company’s operations and processes in the bedding and home textiles industry.

On March 5, 2015, we hosted Orhan Gencel, an Industrial Engineer and the Lead Account Manager at Oracle’s Turkey office, one of the world’s largest software companies. During the interview session with the Industrial Engineering students, Orhan shared his professional experiences and insights on career planning, providing valuable knowledge and guidance for the students’ future careers.

On March 4, 2015, a technical visit was organized to the textile factory of Orta Anadolu A.Ş., one of the leading companies in Kayseri. Students had the opportunity to explore the production processes and gain insights into the operations of a prominent industry player in the textile sector.

On February 26, 2015, İsmail Doğan, an Industrial Engineer and the ERP Consulting Team Manager at PCW (PricewaterhouseCoopers) Turkey, held a career talk with the students of the Industrial Engineering department. He shared valuable insights from his professional experience in consultancy and auditing, offering advice on career development and the role of industrial engineers in various sectors.
