12 Haziran 2018 Salı - 12 Haziran 2018 Salı

The Simulation and Optimization Laboratory (SIMOPT) of the Department of Industrial Engineering at Abdullah Gül University (AGU) was officially opened and made available to students.

The opening ceremony took place at the Rectorate Exhibition Hall on the Sümer Campus, attended by Rector Prof. Dr. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cengiz Yılmaz, Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Akgün, and students.

Following the ceremony, Rector Sabuncuoğlu toured the laboratory with faculty members and engaged in conversations with the students.

Emphasizing the growing importance of data mining, Rector Sabuncuoğlu stated,
“Fifteen percent of Industrial Engineers in the United States work in the field of data mining. This is not a small number. In a country like the U.S., which accounts for 25% of global consumption, 15% of Industrial Engineers have shifted to this area. You are being trained in a field with a very promising future.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Akgün, Head of the Industrial Engineering Department, noted that all graduate students as well as undergraduate students conducting research in the department will benefit from the laboratory.
