In which sectors and departments do Industrial Engineers work?
It is possible to see the differences in the working areas of industrial engineers from various sources. For example, Wikipedia refers to 18 different areas of interest to industrial engineers such as Financial Engineering, Project Management, Cost Engineering, Quality Engineering, Operations Research/Management Science, Logistics, Engineering Management, Ergonomics, Consulting, Safety Engineering, Accounting and Facility Management [1].
In a study conducted by “kariyer.net” in Turkey, worked as an industrial engineer of sectors, and given the 20 departments as shown in Table 1, have been addressed in 13 categories, as shown in Table 2. According to Table 1, industrial engineers are employed in many different sectors, from energy to health, from finance to IT. It is possible to further differentiate or add to these areas. According to Table 2, industrial engineers can work in all departments of a business.
